If you want your Mac to start up again from the volume you just you erased, select Reinstall macOS in the utilities window, then click Continue and follow the onscreen instructions.When done, quit Disk Utility to return to the utilities window.Right-click in the unallocated space on the initialized disk and select New Simple Volume. Select the MBR or GPT partition table format and click OK to create a partition table for the disk. Right-click it and select Initialize Disk. If you dont see your USB disk, click View and then select Show All Devices.
Optional: If you previously used Disk Utility to add internal volumes other than Macintosh HD, you can erase them individually using the same process.
